Members of Liledoun Baptist Church,
Due to the pandemic that has rapidly approached our state and local region, our local, state, and nation leaders, have both requested and demanded that there be a cessation of social gatherings with attendance exceeding 100 people. Since the original declaration, that number has since been dropped to 50, and our President has asked to avoid social gatherings of more than 10 people. According to Christian Attorney, David Gibbs, of the National Center for Life and Liberty, this call is not a cry of paranoia or panic, but of prevention and safety. According to Attorney Gibbs, since we live in a state that has issued legal stipulations and mandates, he suggests for churches to comply with the legal guidelines. Those who do not comply with these mandates are subject to being punished as a Class 2 misdemeanor in accordance with N.C. Gen. Stat. 14-288.20A. That offense would cause the leadership of the church to be sentenced up to 60 days in jail with a $1,000 fine.
According to these requests, they are not seeking us to stop spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The stoppage of all athletic events and school closings are evidence that this is not an attack against the church. They have encouraged online streaming of services amongst other means of communication. This is about preventing the spreading of a highly contagious infectious disease that is new to our country.
Therefore, by request of the President of the United States of America, and to maintain a standing witness and testimony with our community, we will comply with “15 days to slow the spread” as suggested by our President. Effective immediately, Liledoun Baptist Church, will not conduct any congregational services or church-wide events on church grounds. This pertains to the Educational Building, the Sanctuary, and the Fellowship Hall. We will re-evaluate once again on April 1, 2020. This decision came with much prayer, studying the Word of God, and seeking the Lord’s wisdom in the matter. It’s never an easy decision to call church services off. If there is anything that I look forward to, it’s the time of corporate worship with God’s people. I love the people of Liledoun Baptist Church and I would never want to put our people’s lives in danger at any time.
Until we are able to come back together, I will be preaching and recording messages to send out via website upload, text, email, and CD. Those who desire a CD will need to contact the Pastor at (828) 446-0698. If you want to send in your tithes and offerings, please do so by mail:

Please continue to pray for our world, nation, state, local community, families, and our church. Continue to pray for the lost and that the Gospel of Jesus Christ will be spread at this time. We know the Lord is in control and He doeth all things well. If anyone in the church, especially the elderly, are in need of any assistance, please contact us, so we can help them at this time. Thank you for your compliance and prayers in this serious matter.
Love in Christ,
Pastor Jason Payne
